Become a GAL

To become a Guardian ad litem for the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Court, attorneys must attend New Guardian ad Litem Training (pre-service training), which the Guardian ad Litem Project offers. New GAL Training will be announced shortly. We hold this training cooperatively with the Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court.

Once an attorney completes New Guardian ad Litem Training, the attorney must submit an
Guardian ad Litem Application to the Guardian ad Litem Project.

Holistic Fair

Child and Family Advocates of Cuyahoga County was the guest charity at the Holistic Fair on Saturday, July 22 at the West Shore Unitarian Church in Rocky River.

Lakewood Summer Meltdown

The 2017 Lakewood Summer Meltdown took place on Saturday, July 8. The Summer Meltdown represents one of the region's most highly-anticipated street parties and draws nearly 10,000 attendees from across Northeast Ohio. 

Judy Layne at the Cleveland Half Marathon

Child and Family Advocates of Cuyahoga County's Executive Director, Judy Layne, completed the Cleveland Half Marathon to raise awareness for the needs of abused and neglected children and GAL and CASA advocacy in Cuyahoga County. 

Cleveland Council on World Affairs

The Cleveland Council on World Affairs hosted an international visitor delegation through the U.S. State Department for a program called "Children in the U.S. Justice System". This delegation is made up of 7 visitors and 1 liaison for their time in Cleveland. This group is part of the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP).

ADAMHS Behavioral Health & Human Services Career Fair

Child and Family Advocates of Cuyahoga County Staff and Interns attended the ADAMHS Behavioral Health and Human Services Career Fair at the Cleveland Airport Marriott in May to recruit CASA Volunteers and spread the word about the work that CASAs and GALs do for abused and neglected children in Cuyahoga County.

CAAO Executive Matchmaker Reception

The Consortium of African American Organizations (CAAO) is a nonprofit consulting organization which provides benefits and services to member organizations, their members and other individuals through its CAAO's BESTT initiative. 

2017 Fatherhood Conference

Child and Family Advocates of Cuyahoga County Staff attended the 2017 Fatherhood Conference at  the Wyndham Playhouse Square Hotel in June. The Cuyahoga County Fatherhood Initiative's Celebration of Fatherhood is an annual forum created specifically to promote healthy father-child relationships, address the social problems that result from "father absence" and strategize as to what we must do, as a community, to ensure that every child has a dad in their lives.
